Abstract

Orhan Kemal is a Turkish realist writer. His real name is Mehmet Raşit Ütçü. In the beginning, he tried his luck at writing poetry, but later, following the advice of Nazim Hikmet, whom he met in prison, he started writing stories and novels instead.

In his writings, Orhan Kemal introduces us to the lives of "little people." Social problems are the main theme of his work.
