Herald of Oriental Studies

Aims and Scope:

The international scientific journal “Herald of Oriental Studies” is an open access multidisciplinary scientific journal, which was founded in 2018 on the basis of the Department of Oriental Studies of the Faculty of Humanities of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

The editorial board of the journal consists of both Georgian and foreign members.

The journal is identified by ISSN/E-ISSN numbers and is included in the European Bibliographic Indexing Databases.

The international scientific journal “Herald of Oriental Studies”  publishes fundamental scientific research on both the East and other countries in the following fields: current problems of the history of the peoples of the East, Oriental linguistics, literature and culture, politics, diplomacy, regional studies, archaeology, ethnology, ethnography, cultural anthropology, source studies, historiography, chronology, Eastern philosophy, historical geography, questions of Georgia's centuries-old cultural and historical relations with Eastern countries and peoples, modern political, Social, economic, cultural and religious processes, history of religion, translation and other important studies in the context of both regional and global processes.

Review, descriptive and advertising works are not published.

The aim of the journal is to provide the world community with original scientific works of high academic quality, adapted to international standards. Also, to promote interdisciplinary, regional and international dialogue in the field of Oriental Studies, where Georgian and foreign researchers, young scientists, are given the opportunity to exchange research, present international achievements and conduct scientific discussions.

The aim of the journal is also to encourage research on historical sources (source studies, chronology), as well as to publish archival and ethnographic materials important for the South Caucasus and Eastern regions, which contributes to the development of regional studies.

It is based on the world-renowned electronic publishing system OJS (Open Journal Systems). OJS exists to serve both authors and journals. OJS not only facilitates the submission process, but it can also collect and disseminate information about authors and their works in research and citation databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, DOAJ (the Directory of Open Access Journals), etc.

An article submitted for publication in the journal should be structured according to the IMRaD (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) format. Citations and bibliography should be formatted in the APA citation style of the American Psychological Association. Authors can use the Microsoft Word bibliography tool (REFERENCES), or bibliography management programs (e.g. Mendeley, Zotero, RefMan, Endnote, JabRef).

Articles should be accompanied by an abstract and keywords in English and Georgian.

“Herald of Oriental Studies” is published twice a year - in June and December in Georgian and English. Articles submitted for publication are checked for plagiarism using the Turnitin program.

The journal is open access and full texts can also be downloaded.

It is not allowed to use downloaded material for commercial purposes by users.

Publishing a paper in the journal is free of charge.

The journal allows for the publication of original scientific articles, international conferences, reports, expedition reports, and book (monograph) reviews, which promotes scientific activity.
